The Jesse Window at Wells Cathedral is one of the most splendid examples of 14th century stained glass in Europe. It dates from about 1340 and has survived the passage of time well and avoided destruction during the reformation, probably due to its scale and height. The window depicts the genealogy of Jesus dating back to Abraham. The Jesse Window is also affectionately known as ‘The Golden Window’ by many locals due to its unusual and striking colour palette which exhibits a spectacular golden hue.
